Paying and delivery

Paying and delivery

One of the reasons why online shopping has proven so useful is because it means shopping can be delivered to your home, a designated address or at a specific pick up location. Home delivery is useful, particularly if you are unable to leave your house for some reason or you are ordering something heavy. However, if it is not possible to get items delivered to a home address then you can often get it delivered to a pick up point instead. For example, Amazon has set up lockers around the country where deliveries can be sent for customer collection.

Once you have set up your delivery choice, you can then decide on your payment method. The two most common options are to pay using your credit/debit card or to pay using PayPal.  When paying using your debit/credit card, you will need to input the long card number (found on the front of your card), the expiry date and the 3-digit security code on the back of the card. You will not need to input any other card details especially not your 4-digit PIN code. If any website you use asks for this number, you should not give them any of your bank details, this is a warning sign.

Once you have entered in the correct card details, the payment may then be verified by your provider. If this is the case, a little box will appear to say that it is verifying and may require you to answer a security question.

An alternative method of payment is through PayPal. PayPal is an independent site which allows you to securely pay for your online shopping. You can set up your PayPal account using your credit/debit card and any refunds will come through PayPal to your bank account.
