Posting pictures on your profile
Posting pictures on Instagram
In a similar way to writing statuses onto Facebook, Instagram is a visual platform. This means that you can post pictures and videos that will appear both on your profile and on the feed of your followers. You can only post onto Instagram if using the app, if you are using it in an internet browser you can only look at people’s posts/profiles.

To do so, there is a little icon with a + sign in a box in the centre of the bottom toolbar. Once you select this, it takes you to a page where you can choose whether to post something from your library (pictures/videos already stored on your device), a photo straight through the camera or a video taken straight through the camera too.

Once you have decided to post a picture you are then taken to a page where you can edit the picture, change the appearance of the picture, brighten it/add a filter/crop etc.

Once you are happy with your edited picture you then go onto the final page before you post. On this last page is where you can add a caption, tag people, tag a location and there is an option to post to other social media platforms if these are linked to your Instagram account.

Once you have posted your picture/video it will appear, both on your own profile as well on the feed of your followers.
