There are different ways to use the internet to shop online. You can type into the search engine either the item you are looking to purchase or the name of the shop/business. Most online shops organise the items that they sell in order to make it easier to browse for items. For example; clothes shops will organise their clothes by type (dress, shirt, trousers etc.) They will also have a search bar in which you can type the specific item that you are looking for, i.e. ‘Black dress’.

Once you have found what you want to buy, then you can add it to your online basket. You can add multiple items to your basket. You can open your basket and review each of the items in there before you proceed to payment. This will look different on different online shopping websites; however the basic premise will be the same.

It is also important to be aware of your consumer rights when shopping online. In the same way as shopping in-store,you have a window of time after you purchase an item, in which you can return any items and claim a refund. Within 14 days you can return any item if you do not like it, however if there is a problem with the item and it is faulty, then you have a longer period in which you can return it.
