Swiping

In the same way that we scroll upwards and downwards to view more information, sometimes we swipe left and right to access more information.

To swipe, you place your finger on the screen and then you quickly flick it to the left or right.

Knowing when to scroll, and when to swipe comes with experience.

Scrolling is typically used when there is too much information to fit on one page, like a story contained on the many pages of a book.

Whereas swiping is used when all the information can be show on one screen, like flicking through a photo album where each page contains a single photo.
