What are files?

A file is a way of storing data.

This data could be a photo, song, book or many different things.

Every file has a name and a type.

For example if there was a file called “photo-of-me.jpg”, the name would be “photo-of-me” and the type is “.jpg”.

As you use computers more you will come to learn all of the different file types and what they correspond to.
